Statement:

In a more-is-more world my work maximizes colour, pattern and texture to create pots that are expected to perform through the screen. In the absence of touch, the soft, seemingly artificial porcelain draws the viewer in, while providing an equally enjoyable tangible experience. After taking in an endless stream of online “inspo”, I take my ideas back to a familiar place. Starting simply, I work with a paper-clay collage technique, carefully building layers of interest to create compositions that evoke feelings of nostalgia while remaining decidedly current or even alluding to the future. Through use of illusions I imbue the work with surprises, questioning the nature of our dual physical and digital domestic lives. I don’t expect these pieces to remain relevant, or beautiful throughout time, but to serve as curious artifacts of the world today.
