Bio:

​Kero is a queer ceramic artist residing in Cleveland, OH. They received their BFA in ceramics from Kent State University in 2015. Following, they had the opportunity to be an AIR in Cincy where working alongside different potters has helped shape them as an object maker. Moving back to Cle, Kero has been lucky to have been a part of different studios around the area and in community with other ceramic artists. Inspired by optical illusions, unique color combos and drawings from when they were a child, they create pattern-covered objects that keep your eyes locked in.

Statement:

"My work is created by using pinching and coiling techniques, creating texture across each piece. I leave a part of myself forever embedded in the work with finger impressions, remembering I'm connected to others around me. Using underglazes, I wrap pots and sculptures with encompassing designs that move around the entirety of the objects, encouraging the viewer to linger a little bit longer. My desire is for the work to be held and shared, taken on a trip to the grocery store or comfort in a time of need; living with you through the thrilling and mundane."
